Efrat Galnoor | Trees
Galnoor’s Oeuvre centres on site-specific paintings of Israeli landscapes.
Her works represent her ongoing research of the relations between Israeli culture and Israeli landscape in a context of nostalgia, memory, stereotypes, and cultural conventions and fantasies. They trace the manner in which we see and experience space, nature and architecture.
The Israeli landscape’s meaning, unlike many others, is dynamic and unsettled: pregnant with competing narratives of significance and control that are yet to be resolved.
During the past few years, Galnoor has worked on “The Road to Ein Harod – a contemporary journey” a wide ranging project during which she walked from Tel-Aviv to Ein Harod; and made a series of site-specific exhibitions in galleries along the way.
Galnoor is a graduate of Hamidrasha Faculty of Arts at Beit Berl College (B.Ed.FA) and of Haifa University (MFA). She has also studied at the Jerusalem Studio School under Israel Hershberg.
