Marina Kotlyar | Tavern Couple
Marina Kotlyar lives and works in Tel Aviv. She studied printmaking at the Gottesman Etching Center (2022), painting at “Hakolel” (2019), and participated in the “Hatachana” master class (2011). She also graduated from the Visual Communication Department at Avni Institute (1995) and studied architecture at Bezalel Academy (1990-1993) and the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts (1987-1990).
Her work explores visual phenomena that evoke emotions and sensations while avoiding concrete and narrative storytelling. Through reduction, color abstraction, deconstruction, and reconstruction of imagery, she leaves space for the viewer’s imagination.
Marina specializes in printmaking techniques, paints with oil on canvas and wood in various sizes, and incorporates materials and techniques such as acrylic, industrial paints, silver and gold leaf, and collage. In the summer of 2024, she participated in an artist residency at KuBa: Kulturbahnhof in Brandenburg, Germany. Over the years, she has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions, including Between Us (2020) at Global Art Gallery in Tel Aviv and Awakening from Your Image (2020) at the Artists’ House in Rishon LeZion.
