In my work as a sculptor and a ceramic artist, I wish to create a personal world with a unique and an individual language, that bridges between my long-time practice as a functional ceramist and my recent years as an installation artist, exhibiting in art galleries and museums.
The sculptures and installations I create, are based on both traditional handcrafts I studied over my years of working with local artisans in Jingdezhen, the Chinese center for porcelain making, and my modern visual art languages and style. This stylistic hybridization come through in my work as a contemporary arena for current symbols and narratives I am interested in.
The most apparent forms in my artistic ouver for the last few years, have been the shapes of the Egg and the Bubble. Their unusual, fragile and temporary forms, that are always on the edge of breaking down or cracking open, create a tension on which I embody my own private world, by hand-drawing on them, or by using ready-made motives in an unordinary, rearranging context.
It is important for me to present surprising, new and unique surroundings that take the audience beyond their specific time and place, and to offer an exciting new approach, perspective and experience that are relevant to our lives here and now.
