Rotem Ritov /// Sanctified Stone

Mixed Technique Drawing in on paper, Stones and Beads glued to plywood

My work navigates through various techniques, focusing primarily on installation combined with video, performance and drawing. Influenced by Middle Eastern cultures, mythology, history, religions and traditions, I weave these elements into my work, transcending temporal and geographical boundaries in my exploration of the route of narratives and beliefs. From a feminist perspective, I address the persistence of patriarchal structures in contemporary Middle Eastern culture. I aim to break down barriers and push boundaries in substance and thought to create artworks where complexities deeply rooted in Middle Eastern cultures can be explored, questioned, and retold from liberal oriented contemporary perspectives.
