Yair Garbuz (1945) is an Israeli painter, writer, journalist, satirist and publicist and one of the most popular and respected artists in Israel. During the 1960s he studied painting at the Avni Institute School of Art and Design in Tel Aviv, with the artists Rafi Lavi, Moshe Props and Hiyel Kriza. Starting in 1973, Garboz taught in the art and between the years 1997-2011 he was the head of the "Hamadrasah" school in Beit Berel. A source of inspiration for Garboz's works is the American pop painting.
Yair Garboz participated in many solo exhibitions in important art institutions in Israel and worldwide. Garboz won many scholarships and awards during his life for his work, among which in 2004 he won the A. M. A. Funded by the Foundation for the Advancement of Science, Culture and Art in Israel, he also won the Rapaport Award for Painting in 2015 from the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. In 2017 he presented a solo exhibition at the Tel Aviv Museum called 'I am painters'.
